Want to know how to turn your home into a smart home with the easiest and cheapest smart home set-up? Maybe you just want to turn your lights on with a simple command. Maybe you want to add some smart switches. Maybe you want to check to see if you left your plugin iron on and have the capability to it turn off using your smartphone.

Either way, we’ll show you the easiest smart home set up that actually works and how easy they are to implement into your home.

I recently came across a YouTube video by Jenna Ezarik from CES 2019 about GE latest smart home devices and was impressed by what I saw. I thought it would be awesome to share with you.

Since using C by GE smart light bulb I can honestly say it was the fastest and easiest set up I have used for a voice control lightbulb.

The Easiest and Cheapest Smart Home Set up is with C by GE appliances:

  • C-Life
  • C-Start Smart Switch
  • GE – Smart Wall Plug

C-Life with Google Home Mini Combo pack

Right out of the box you have a smart bulb and Google home mini, set up couldn’t be much easier.  Sold as a combo pack, Google Home Mini and GE smart bulb allows you to just twist in your smart bulb in a lamp, turn the switch on, go to your Google Home app to add the device, set it up and you are ready to go. C-Life provides Bluetooth-enabled smart light, without any external hub. The whole set-up takes less than five minutes from start to finish.

The Google Home app allows you to schedule the lights, dim or brighten or control them with voice control. This is a great starting point without breaking the bank. Retails at $55 but you can find the current price on Best Buy.

C-Start Smart Switch

GE will be launching multiple smart switches for 2019, from a traditional toggle smart switch with a basic smart on/off switch, a dimmer switch with motion diction which allow to turn the lights on automatically and you don’t have to touch the light switch at all, and an ambient light sensor. Both are integrated with Amazon Alexa and Google Home.

For us, we sometimes switch the toggle off to our smart bulbs by accident which eliminates commands from the app or voice control. But with GE smart switch, you’re allowed full control even if the switch is off, allowing you to control your smart bulbs when visitors or kids turned the light switch off. If interested, you can find the current price on Best Buy.

GE – Smart Wall Plug

It seems like every tech company is creating a smart plug but C by GE is designed to make your dumb devices into smart ones that are controllable via an app or by Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa or Apple Siri. This allows you to control anything that is plugged into this smart accessory when you away from home.

There is nothing special about GE smart plug but if you are planning to add more GE products to your smart home it’s best to keep it in the GE Ecosystem. By using the GE app, you can control your smart plug and turn off any appliance worry-free.

As more GE smart home devices continue to be released, I’ll be updating this post with newer smart home products.

C by GE is made for Google but is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit but requires a C- Reach hub.
