If you want to connect your existing lamp or electrical devices by automation, The Belkin WeMo Mini is simple to use and it works with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple Home Kit. 

 

Most smart plugs are very easy to set-up, all you have to do is plug them in, set up and download the app on your smartphone. But from my experience, WeMo is the only reliable out the batch of smart plugs on the market. Belkin WeMo Mini (My Best Pick) – is simple to install, has a great design and is compatible with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, Nest and Apple HomeKit. TanTan Mini Smart Plug – would be my second choice as it’s cheaper and has almost all the same features as the WeMo mini smart plug. Its compatible with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, Apple HomeKit and IFTTT. It uses the Smart Life app, which is extremely easy to use and great for any new smart home user. TP-Link Kasa Mini Outlet Smart Plug – is my third choice as it’s a great design which allows you to plug in without blocking both outlets. It’s compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, but, sadly, it’s not compatible with Apple Homekit and IFTTT. Also, if you lose power the plug seems to forget the schedule that you have set until you manually unplug it and plug it back in. It randomly drops and reconnects from Wi-Fi and the set-up can be a little difficult. The price is about the same as the Belkin WeMo mini but comes with fewer features.
